About Sas
By the age of 6 growing up in Barbados, I knew I wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry. It would be more than a decade before I had the opportunity to pursue that dream with the commencement of graduate studies at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, California. Originally, I was part of the Film & Television Production program, and assumed I would pursue a career in writing, directing and/or producing. On one of my first student sets however, the director had rented audio equipment, but forgotten the critical task of finding a Recording Arts student to record the sound. The director asked, "Does anyone know how to use this equipment?”
Since I was a few weeks into an introductory Recording Arts class and had a basic understanding, I jokingly said, "I know how to turn the recorder on.”
The director responded, "Okay, Saski's on sound.”
And so, I navigated the first plot twist of my creative journey, becoming an IMDb accredited sound editor and mixer over the next 3 years.
Upon graduation in 2011, the goal was to secure a full-time audio role. But bureaucracy, and life, had the scenic path in mind. The next few years took me back to Barbados and across Canada, with occupational detours along the way. In Edmonton for example, I started out as a food service worker, and later found an opportunity to be a production volunteer with the local Shaw TV station.
2017 brought Canadian residency and the stability to get back on course and pursue my original audio goals. I refreshed my skills by completing Trebas Institute’s Diploma in Sound Design, and began cultivating new skills in animation and content creation for social media. In 2020, I founded Storied Soundscapes Inc., which is the culmination of the work, education and life experiences gained along this journey.
So, what happens when you entrust me to help you tell your story? I will persist, adapt and learn, to help you bring your vision to fruition.
I look forward to working with you!
